Classen Inn

A 1960s OKC Motel Restored to its Original Glory and Beyond

On Classen Boulevard — an arterial through some of Oklahoma City’s most exciting neighborhoods — you’ll find the Classen Inn. You can’t miss it, really. Its iconic Googie architecture and Mid-Century design have been capturing imaginations since its founding in the 1960s. But following its $2 million renovation by owners Steve and Aimee, this 17-room 1960s-era motel is once again kitschy, young, fun and unmistakably hip. From camera-carrying social media stars to nostalgic architecture aficionados, Classen Inn is a place where everyone can stay together— the hotel’s ethos is inclusive and easy-going.

A colorful inn featuring eclectic decor and Americana in spades.

What it's like

When you first lay eyes on the Classen Inn, you’ll know you are someplace special. The bold colors, the classic sign, the distinctive architecture — the entire aesthetic harkens back to another era, but also feels definitively modern. Wind through this unique property and you’ll see that every corner includes historical oddities, kitsch and other elements that recall a colorful period in history — and one whose aesthetic is just as popular again today. This is a hotel that doesn’t take itself too seriously — and encourages guests to do the same.

Independent spirit

Always-inventive lodging at the heart of a city in love with revitalization.

Small touches

Art and expression are alive in the entire guest experience. You’ll encounter Jameson Bros. wood beds, Creed Bayless art by the sinks, Greer Inez photos in the bathrooms, lobby art by Caroline Cohenour, “lips” displayed in guest rooms created by Angela Chrusciaki Blehm and an outside mural called Let’s Stay Together that’s painted by muralist Dusty Gilpin. Every detail of your stay, from the linens to the toilet paper holder has been thoroughly thought through.

Eat and drink

Classen Inn’s answer to NYC’s bodega is the Superette. Bright, funky and just begging for a good time, the Superette offers tasty beverages, including beer and wine, and snacks that you can enjoy in-room or on the dreamy patio. Whether it’s tasty eats and treats or kitschy knick-knacks, The Superette has everything you never knew you needed.
