Stagecoach Inn

The beating heart of Salado, Texas.

As Texas's second-oldest continuously operating hotel, the Stagecoach Inn has welcomed travelers for over 160 years. What began as a vital stop along the Chisholm Trail continues today as a cornerstone of Salado hospitality, where guests enjoy the same warm welcome that once greeted cattle drivers and visiting dignitaries alike.

What it's like

Time moves differently here, where heritage and hospitality blend seamlessly. Designated as a Texas Historical Landmark since 1962, this storied hotel carries echoes of Sam Houston and Jesse James while offering the intimate comfort that only a small-town treasure can provide. The grounds invite exploration, with spaces that encourage both quiet reflection and spirited gatherings—proof that some places only get better with time.

Independent spirit

A Texas legend still writing its story.

Small touches

At Stagecoach Inn, all 48 thoughtfully appointed rooms and suites combine modern comforts with historical character. Private balconies and patios invite outdoor living, while premium linens ensure a restful stay. Each accommodation comes equipped with filtered drinking water, plush bathrobes, and a selection of curated entertainment options. The resort-style pool, a cherished Stagecoach tradition since 1960, offers a refreshing escape from the Texas heat. Four-legged travelers are welcome too, honoring the hotel's long-standing tradition of Texas hospitality.

Eat and drink

Stagecoach Restaurant is currently undergoing renovations and is expected to reopen in February 2025. When it does, it will continue to honor its legacy through a menu of American classics crafted with local ingredients and Southern hospitality. The laid-back, familial atmosphere pairs with impeccable attention to detail, creating an experience that feels both refined and comfortable. For casual fare, the seasonal Stagecoach Western Club offers poolside snacks and libations, perfect for afternoon lounging or starlit evening gatherings.
